SKANDALAdana reacts harshly to Israel: "Turkey should put the war option on the agenda"
The Israeli navy stopped the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, and the detention of activists sparked reactions all over Turkey.
One of the harshest statements came from Adana.
In a press statement, Center-Right Party Adana Provincial Chairman Mahmut Yenel described Israel's blockade on Gaza and its interventions in humanitarian aid initiatives as "inhumane". Yenel condemned the countries that remained silent about these practices and argued that the Republic of Turkey should put the option of war against Israel on the agenda.
"It is obvious that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's diplomatic efforts to end the genocide in Gaza are not enough," Yenel said, emphasizing that Turkey is the country that Israel is most afraid of in terms of economic and military power.
Yenel stated that United Nations resolutions are ineffective because Israel is supported by the USA. Yenel, who evaluated the refusal of some Islamic countries for political and military reasons as 'indifference', drew attention to Turkey's historical role:
"Turkey must be determined to be the standard-bearer of Islam today as it was yesterday."
Yenel's statements brought calls for Turkey to take a more active role in the face of increasing tension in the region and the lack of reaction of the international public opinion to the agenda again.
"State Institutions Should Put the War Option on the Agenda"
The interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla by the Israeli navy on its way to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and the detention of activists sparked strong reactions in Adana. Center-Right Party Adana Provincial Chairman Mahmut Yenel drew attention not only to political but also to institutional responsibilities in his statement.
Yenel stated that many state institutions, especially the Presidency of Religious Affairs, should take a more determined stance against the human tragedy in Gaza. "The option of war should now be on the agenda of not only the government, but the entire state structure," Yenel said, criticizing the silence of the institutions in this direction.
Yenel said, "All institutions of the state, especially the Diyanet, should express the option of war against this oppression. This call is the call of conscience, history and the people."
Yenel argued that Turkey's diplomatic efforts should be appreciated, but this is not enough, and called for social and institutional mobilization. "It is imperative that Turkey, the country that Israel fears the most, unites against the murderer Israel with the option of war with its people and institutions," he said.
"We would have been more effective if Tansu Çiller had been the President"
Center-Right Party Adana Provincial Chairman Mahmut Yenel continued his reaction to Israel's interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which wanted to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza, and drew attention to Turkey's leadership performance in past crises.
Yenel cited the Prime Minister of the time, Tansu Çiller, who played an active role in the Kardak Crisis, as an example and said, "If Tansu Çiller had been the President, he would have played a much more active role in today's international crises."
"The determination he showed in Kardak is a symbol of Turkey's courage in defending its sovereign rights. Today, a similar stance is needed in humanitarian crises such as Gaza," Yenel said, emphasizing that Turkey's leadership capacity should be remembered again with past examples.
Yenel's outburst was considered as a reminder of both Turkey's foreign policy reflexes and institutional memory. The statement brought back the public calls that Turkey should take a more active and courageous role in crisis management.
